Kayla Brenden
Dr. Kayla grew up in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota before attending Hamilton College earning a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, with minors in Art and Biology. She obtained her doctorate from the New England College of Optometry in 2016 where she was awarded the VOSH One award for her continued volunteering for the optometric community and the Alumni Scholarship. Dr. Kayla’s optometric experience includes externships at the North End Community Health Center (Boston, MA), Merrimack Vision Care (Manchester, NH), Indian Health Center-Bethel (Bethel, AK), and Providence VA (Providence, RI). Dr. Kayla practices primary care optometry, seeing both pediatric and adult patients. She also manages myopia, many ocular diseases, fits contact lenses as well as specialty scleral contacts, and provides post-op care for refractive surgeries. In 2018, Dr. Kayla went on an optometric mission to Haiti with Dr. Diane and another Vermont optometrist. Dr. Kayla became a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2021. Specialty contact lens fitting is one of Dr. Kayla’s areas of expertise. Dr. Kayla enjoys skiing, hiking, running and spending time with her dog, Finn. During the pandemic, she learned how to solve a rubik's cube.
